Gear Which set to build, cheapest first, and what to roll on the weapon. Leadership is a reforged armour stat you grind (lock it on every piece), not a flat set bonus. New to it? See crafting and honing.
Roll forSlashing and blunt damage with their penetration on the weapon. Bonus stats, crit value and crit damage first now that Dragon's Ode doubles your active skill crit value, then strength and agility. Roll health on armour if you play the full HP build. Lock leadership on every armour piece. Armour is a CHOICE between the three below, not a ladder: pick the style, then reforge that set.
Best runes this season Amya's picks for Chaos: A Realm Divided. Every piece holds at most 5 Rune Power, so each slot is a budget call. Open a rune for its full effect, or read the whole seasonal set on the Hero Runes page.

Guide
Glaive was reworked on the August 6 update and every build changed with it. Two spells are now fixed, the other two slots are free, and the ultimate is the trigger for everything else.
Warlord’s Greeting and Flying Reaper go in every build, whatever else you run. Warlord’s Greeting is your double CC and it hits far harder than it used to.
Flying Reaper
Flying ReaperLeaps and strikes, dealing 748% base + 4358 Blunt Damage to enemies in the landing area. Inflicts Knockup and dismounts mounted enemies.
Effects on Enemies:
Increases damage taken by enemies hit by 20% for 4 seconds.
Control Removal:
Removes Dazed and Knockdown upon use. is the ultimate, and the ultimate is what turns the passive on.
Using an ultimate grants Dragon’s Ode: your active skill Crit Value is doubled and every Defence type goes up by 60% for 6 seconds, and casting other skills refreshes the duration. Play around that window rather than around your health bar. Ult in, then keep casting so the window rolls on, and you are both tankier and critting for the whole commit. Going in before you can ult is how the fight ends early.
Tips
The two middle slots are free. The picks worth them:
- Arc of Steel: one-shots now. Three sweeps around you, 166% per hit after the August buff, on a 7 second cooldown instead of 10.
- Heat of Battle: damage reduction, knockback, control cleanse and your spell-cancel tool.
- God of Battles: 22% damage for you and nearby allied units for 10 seconds, up from 15%.
- Breaker of Shields: block break and burst for duels.
What the August 6 update actually moved, so you know where the power is: Warlord’s Greeting 88% to 176% with 110% armour penetration,
Arc of Steel
Arc of SteelSwings the Glaive around, striking nearby enemies 3 times. Each hit deals 166% Base + 1270 Slashing Damage. 92% to 166% and 3 seconds off its cooldown,
Flying Reaper
Flying ReaperLeaps and strikes, dealing 748% base + 4358 Blunt Damage to enemies in the landing area. Inflicts Knockup and dismounts mounted enemies.
Effects on Enemies:
Increases damage taken by enemies hit by 20% for 4 seconds.
Control Removal:
Removes Dazed and Knockdown upon use. 575% to 748% and 10 seconds off its cooldown,
Hail of Blades
Hail of BladesSwings the Glaive with unstoppable force, slashing enemies in front 6 times. Each hit deals 141% Base + 1234 Slashing Damage, inflicting Knockback, and dismounting enemy Heroes.
Control Removal:
Removes Dazed and Knockdown upon use. 74% to 141%,
Charge
ChargeSprints forward, increasing Piercing Defence by 20% during the sprint.
Second press:
Slashes enemies in front, dealing 141% Base + 1312 Slashing Damage, inflicting Knockdown, and dismounting enemy Heroes.
Third press::
Slashes upwards 2 more times. Each hit deals 135% Base + 1415 Slashing Damage. 88% to 141% on the first hit. Nothing here is a small number, which is why the guide changed rather than got edited.
Full HPthe tankiest version, built on the epic set from Poleaxe.
Fearless Paladin is wearable on Glaive and gives 10% max health, so you stack HP and let Dragon’s Ode carry the defence side. This is the build that abuses the 60% the hardest: the health pool lets you take the engage, and the ultimate hands you the defence at the exact moment you commit. Roll health on the armour pieces, not defence, because the defence is what the window is already giving you.
Royal Sentry’s is the alternative epic here, and it is the Glaive-specific one: two pieces take 2 seconds off Warlord’s Greeting, four give you control immunity for 2 seconds after Combat Dismount. Fearless Paladin trades that for the health.
Two Heavy, Two Mediumthe middle ground, and the cheapest of the three.
Guardsman chest and boots with Carniflex helm and gloves. You are giving up one four-piece bonus to hold two two-piece bonuses: 150 to each damage type from Carniflex, 5% max health from Guardsman. The chest and boots are the pieces that carry health in the first place, so the heavy half goes there and the crit half stays medium.
This is what you play when you are diving units rather than picking off heroes, and it needs no schematic.
Full Mediumall the damage.
4/4 Carniflex, so both bonuses land: 150 to each damage type, then 10 Strength, Agility, Toughness and Armour. Full Strength, no padding, and the August multipliers do the rest. Event sets that let you stack blunt bonuses belong here.
You have no cushion in this one. Every mistake is the whole health bar, so it wants the Dragon’s Ode window played properly rather than as a bonus.
Playstyle
You still play around your horse. Use Right Click into a horse Turn & Attack to optimize your damage, and move your camera during Right Click to extend the swing and hit more targets.
Once dismounted, Shift-AA into block cancels the animation and lets you go straight into another Shift-AA for quick, repeated hits. The full commit on foot is Warlord’s Greeting into
Flying Reaper
Flying ReaperLeaps and strikes, dealing 748% base + 4358 Blunt Damage to enemies in the landing area. Inflicts Knockup and dismounts mounted enemies.
Effects on Enemies:
Increases damage taken by enemies hit by 20% for 4 seconds.
Control Removal:
Removes Dazed and Knockdown upon use. into a Shift-AA chain, and everything after the ultimate happens inside the Dragon’s Ode window.
Learning how to space, which spells you can cancel with
Heat of Battle
Heat of BattleUnleash inner rage to empower yourself, inflicting Knockback on nearby enemies, reducing damage taken by 18%, and granting immunity to Dazed. Lasts 13s.
Buff:
Reduces damage taken by an additional 36% for the first 3s.
Control Removal:
Removes Dazed, Knockdown, and Concussed effects upon activation., and how to stay on horse is still what makes a Glaive useful. Be pro-active, and do not lose your horse.
